Reflexiones y análisis sobre algunos dilemas bioéticos que surgen en la interacción entre cirujano oncólogo y paciente oncológico que amerita ser intervenido quirúrgicamente con fines diagnósticos, o tratamiento radical o paliativo. Extrema importancia que el cirujano oncólogo desarrolle conocimientos bioéticos para brindar apoyo físico, mental y espiritual al paciente oncológico, además de proporcionarse de herramientas en toma de decisiones ante conflictos éticos que puedan surgir. Se reflexiona sobre dilemas existentes ante el manejo apropiado de la verdad de la situación médica, no ocasionando maleficencia al paciente al dar la información sobre su estado. El respeto a la autonomía del paciente, considerando su derecho a decidir sobre su tratamiento cuando éste puede acarrear consecuencias incapacitantes, o invalidantes; debiendo este estar correctamente informado al dar o no su consentimiento. Se analizan conflictos que surgen ante el dolor y sufrimiento del paciente y dilemas ante el manejo del paciente oncológico en fase terminal.
Reflections and analysis on some dilemmas of bioethics arising in the interaction between the surgeon and the oncologist cancer patient, who deserves to be surgically underwent with radical or palliative treatment o for diagnostic purposes. Extreme importance to the surgical oncologist develop bioethical knowledge to provide physical, mental, and spiritual support to cancer patients, in addition to providing decision making tools to ethical conflicts that may arise. Reflection about existing dilemmas to proper handling of the truth of the medical situation, not causing harm the patient to give information about their status. Respect for the autonomy of the patient, considering their right to decide on their treatment when this can have consequences, disabling, or incapacitating; should this be properly informed to the consent or not. We discuss conflicts that arise before the pain and suffering of patient, and the presence of dilemmas before the management of end stage cancer patients.
